The Well Listening Service
As a parallel service to Counselling, The Well provides a one-to–one listening service, which is available for individual s who are over 18. The service is available to people regardless of their gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability or faith.
Listening is not Counselling nor is it a poor relation of Counselling. Active Listening, provided by our fully trained and experienced Listeners, offers a safe, confidential and supportive environment in which people can explore their own personal difficulties and feelings.
Our Listeners will guide and encourage you to share your own story with the ultimate aim of assisting you to make your own choices and come to your own conclusions about your next step. Our Listeners will support you as you take responsibility for your own life and find your own way forward.
All our Listeners are fully trained by Acorn Christian Foundation and receive regular supervision. As part of the Well we adhere to all their policies and ethical practice.
All information shared with a Listener will be treated as confidential, that commitment will only be broken if the Listener has concerns about your own safety or that of another person or is made aware of any serious illegal activity.
Counselling is not part of the Listening Service but where it is realised that this would be helpful we can arrange that for you and we are also able to signpost you to other sources of help and support.
